Skills can not be levelled past the number of collected items for each skill. Later versions may include randomization for career skill requirements.

What does another world's item look like in Sims 4?

When unlocking a check, a message will be displayed.

When the player receives an item, what happens?

A message with the item is displayed, the player can now get another skill point for that skill.
